My Bio
At nineteen, after a strong & influential
music upbringing, rob hawk flew to Birmingham to begin a two yea course in sound
engineering. Driven by the need to learn more about his passion for electronic
music and equipped with two turntables and an open mind, it was not going to be
long before rob hawks insatiable appetitite for mixing and producing was
unleashed on the masses.
After successfully completing college he returned home to Dublin where he soon
landed his own show on Kiss FM. This not only gave him the opportunity to
further develop his raw talent and skills as a live DJ but, also armed him with
the medium to reach and attain a loyal audience. After only a few months at Kiss
FM he started to receive a lot of positive feedback, about his style and
delivery, from a broad network of reputable names in the industry. With his
reputation becoming more widespread he was soon making regular appearances on
other stations including 2fm, Nova and Future off the back of such consistent
exposure on the airwaves rob began playing every weekend in various venues
around the city and many a wild after party.
His big break arrived when he became the resident DJ on a Friday night in the
Tivoli. During this year he was constantly networking with others who shared his
ambition and flare for staging a night where people could come and leave wanting
more. As time went by rob conquered more venues including wax, spi bar, traffic,
the pod, the vaults to name but a few. Not long after the tivoli rob decided it
was time to put his ideas and drive in to a collaborative venture with Al Keegan
and Anthony O'Brien.
In November 2003 the guys got together their entrepreneurial and management
skills which gave rise to the '12ten' club night. The night which was held every
Saturday soon became a popular place for a wide range of electronic music and
allowed many upcoming DJs showcase their talents. The night became such a
success that in the summer of 2004 the three lads were invited to play in the 'Bodytonic'
tent at the now infamous 'Electric Picnic' summer festival in Stradbally Hall.
During the following year the 12ten night progressed but in early 2005 the guys
amicably parted company to set about following their own interests. Rob has
since played alongside many international guests such as Paul Woolford, Steve
Mac, Switch, Nic Fancuilli, Groove Armada, Billy Nasty, Justin Konache, Steve
Porter, K Klass, Kerri Chandler and Leeroy Thornhill. His live set delivery and
ability to work a crowd soon allowed him to carve his unique style. Rob tastes
in music have always been influenced by the reactions of those exposed to his
performances and therefore has always enjoys variation but firmly believes while
change should always be embraced consistently regarding his best possible input
should always be maintained.
Robs record collection consists of house, tech, electro, breaks, funk & soul
though his preferred range of music is underground house complimented by funky &
electro overtones. During the past 18th months rob has developed his skills as a
producer and has honed his talents on delivering original music. tbc
